The Country Legend’s 154th Studio Album Drops on April 25th
Willie Nelson shows no signs of slowing down — and we’re certainly not complaining. The country music icon has just revealed plans for his 154th studio album (yes, you read that right!) titled Oh What a Beautiful World. Set for release on April 25th via Legacy Recordings, the album marks his 77th solo effort. As a preview, Nelson has released the title track for fans to enjoy.
Oh What a Beautiful World follows a pattern Nelson has often embraced: dedicating an entire album to the work of a distinguished songwriter. This time, he’ll be paying tribute to Rodney Crowell, a Texas artist whose career has frequently intersected with Nelson’s. The album features 12 tracks, all written or co-written by Crowell. Pre-orders are already available.
The Title Track: A Classic Nelson Rendition
Nelson’s rendition of the song Oh What a Beautiful World, originally from Crowell’s 2014 album Tarpaper Sky, is a perfect example of his signature style. With its traditional country harmonies and tender honky-tonk instrumentation, the track is a beautiful homage to Crowell’s work. The cherry on top? Crowell himself joins Nelson on the track, adding even more warmth to this gorgeous tune. Stream it below and get a taste of the album.
A Busy Year Ahead for Willie Nelson
As if the upcoming album isn’t enough, Willie Nelson has a jam-packed year ahead. He’s set to kick off the Outlaw Music Festival Tour with none other than Bob Dylan in May. The 34-date tour promises an exciting lineup with rotating support acts, including Wilco, Waxahatchee, Billy Strings, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, The Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow, and more.
